Did you know at Haynes Acupuncture Gold Coast we have a pharmacy with the ability to prescribe Chinese herbal medicine! Herbal medications can be used to support your health in conjunction with acupuncture or on their own. Traditional Chinese medicine is a healing approach that originated in China thousands of years ago. Here at Haynes Acupuncture Gold Coast our practitioners are trained in the Shang Han Lun Jing Gui method from 100-300ad.

In the traditional system of Chinese herbal medicine, herbal formulas can be used to treat a variety of conditions. Rather than prescribing specific herbs, practitioners of traditional Chinese medicine typically combine a number of different herbs in formulas selected depending on the patient’s individual needs. These formulas may be given as teas, capsules, tinctures, or powders.

To prescribe herbal medication, one belief is that the body consists of opposite but complementary qualities, or yin and yang, that maintain its healthy balance. Treatments then follow the four properties and five flavours to promote balance.

    How does it work?

The practitioner will diagnose the patient’s aliments, mainly through questioning and pulse. Each patient is unique, people suffering from the same symptoms may receive significantly different prescriptions

We use granulated Chinese herbs which you add boiling water to and drink.
