Diet and exercise are two of the most significant aspects which contribute to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) lifestyle. Healing depends on our assuming new and balanced lifestyle patterns to allow health to emerge and while it is an easy thing to subscribe to principles of a “healthy” lifestyle, it is completely another to make these principles a part of your life.
Most people are aware that lifestyle pictures which support health include essential elements such as fresh air, moderate exercise, balanced sleep habits and nutritional awareness, yet we often forget the significance of factors such as a sense of purpose, personal value and self-worth, joy in relationships and most importantly a health care approach that strengthens rather than weakens our immune systems. Through its holistic approach, in TCM the whole is greater than the sum of its parts; therefore by incorporating these TCM lifestyle principles and modifying our behaviors, we are able to address the imbalances which contribute to poor health and ultimately correct them.
